Who we are

There are places that one visits. And there are unique, singular places that can be inhabited. You have the privilege of being in one of them.

This is Yanguas, our hotel. A 13th-century Nasrid palace in the heart of the Albaicín, a neighborhood declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO—and one of the best-preserved Moorish houses in all of Granada. There is no other place like it in the world. We haven’t just turned it into another hotel. We have carefully opened it, so that a few can feel what we feel every day when crossing its entrance arch: that time, here inside, stops in a different way.

You won’t find two rooms alike, because there are no two corners alike in this house. Each one has its own story, its own light, its own fragment of the eight centuries this place has stood. Sleeping in Yanguas is not just occupying a room: it is inheriting, for one night, a piece of that history.

We are only eleven. That means that, while you are here, you will be part of a very small group of people in the world who have had the opportunity to experience this house from within—to cross the same courtyard, to sit by the same pool, to sleep under the same wooden ceilings that have seen generations pass.

We don’t want you to feel like a guest. We want you to feel, even if briefly, part of this house.

Welcome to a small Alhambra that today, for the first time, can be inhabited.

Carmen Dávila Ponce de León

A family. A profession. A lifetime in Granada.

My father founded Dávila Monument Restoration in Granada in 1998, with a conviction that still guides every family project today: historic buildings deserve the same rigor and the same love that is dedicated to great works of art. His team has restored some of the most important monuments in Andalusia — among them, the Court of the Lions and the roofs of the Nasrid Palaces of the Alhambra, and the roofs of the Royal Chapel of the Granada Cathedral.

Yanguas Nazarí Palace was born from that same perspective. Four constructions —a 13th century Nasrid house, a 16th century Moorish house, a 17th century carmen, and an 18th century building— brought together under the same roof today. We invite you to discover, behind each wall, the result of that dedication.

The following chapter of the same story

Ponce de León is not just the name of a collection of hotels. It’s our last name. The Yanguas Nazarí Palace is the family’s second project, after La Corrala del Realejo, a 17th-century palace in the heart of Granada’s Realejo. Each hotel is unique — each with its own history, its own architecture, its own character. If you want to know where it all started, we invite you to discover La Corrala del Realejo.

The chapters that are yet to come

The story of Ponce de León continues to be written. We are already working on three new projects that will soon be added to this collection.

The first is the Alquería Alitaje from the 11th century, a property in the Vega de Granada where the land still commands:

organic orchard, flowers growing at their own pace, and free-ranging animals—including our own chickens—that live together with the orchard and provide fresh eggs to our kitchens. Everything that is cultivated and harvested there eventually ends up, sooner or later, on the tables of our restaurants and hotels. It’s the same respect for the authentic, this time applied to the land and those who inhabit it.

They are followed by two new Granadian palaces: the Palace of the Marquises of Cartagena, next to the Puerta de las Granadas, at the very access to the Alhambra; and the Palace of the Counts of Castillejo, in the heart of Realejo, very close to where it all began.
